How to choose a home computer?

Nowadays, a computer is no longer a luxury, but a means of interaction with the outside world. Computer – a huge leap in the development of civilization. With his appearance, various areas of the industry related to digital and information technologies began to actively develop. Now the computer is used in almost all spheres of human activity: it does boring work for us, connects people who live on different continents and just helps to relax and have fun.

In this regard, the choice of a computer should be taken carefully, because very few people will like it when the “machine” suddenly turns off without saving your annual report. Having come to any home appliances store, long racks are immediately apparent, crammed with computers of all colors, sizes and configurations. And looking at the signs on which the technical specifications of the computer are written, I immediately want to call a consultant who first of all wants to sell the computer “more abruptly and more expensively”. But not everything is as bad as it seems! Next, we look at each component of a modern computer and see what suits them better.

“Stuffing” computer must be selected depending on the tasks for which it will be used. Simple work with “office” work, surfing the Internet or computer games require special configuration. And why pay for a powerful gaming computer that will be used to send emails and play solitaire games? In stores, mostly computers are sold already fully assembled and equipped with the aforementioned “creepy” signs.

For most users, such computers will fully satisfy their requirements. But for “advanced” users who want to squeeze the maximum out of the “typewriter”, such computers are not the best option. They will prefer to assemble it on their own. It is also worth remembering that to build a computer manually, you need to know exactly what to insert and where, or you can turn to those who have similar experience. High-quality manual assembly leaves far behind computers equipped in the factory, as well as cheaper. But no matter what assembly you prefer, when choosing a computer, you need to pay attention to such components as: motherboard, processor, RAM, power supply, hard drive and video card.

Motherboard

The motherboard (popularly just “motherboard”) is the basis of the whole computer. It looks like a huge fee, with a bunch of nests and mounts. It serves as a “support” for all components, and also binds them together. When buying an already equipped computer, the choice of motherboard is not so significant. And for those who decide to assemble everything manually, you should pay attention to the socket for the processor, since the Intel and AMD processors have different mounting systems.

Processor (CPU)

The processor is the “brain” of the computer. It is he who performs all the basic calculations and operations. At the moment, the leaders in the processor market are Intel and AMD. The performance of programs and games launched on a computer directly depends on the processor installed in the computer. Of course, a simple, budget processor (for example, Intel Celeron) will be quite enough for work. But for fans of modern games you need a powerful, high-frequency “percent” (for example, Intel Core i5). In general, the power and speed of the processor are measured in frequency units – hertz. The higher the processor frequency, the better.

RAM (RAM)

RAM is the best friend of the processor. This is the amount of memory that the processor uses in its work. A powerful high-frequency processor plus a large amount of RAM equals a fast and powerful computer. From this formula, we can conclude that the more memory the processor adds, the better. But do not overdo it – excessive memory will not lead to anything good.

The optimal amount of RAM is 2 gigabytes. For gaming computers, it is desirable to have 4 gigabytes in reserve. Also, if over time you want to improve the speed of your computer, you can add memory cards to additional slots on the motherboard. Also, do not forget that you need to add them in accordance with the “motherboard”. Ask sellers or look in the instructions for the types of supported memory, and then select the RAM card itself.

Power Supply

A computer without electricity is the same as an abacus without knuckles. The power supply supplies all computer components with electricity. Power supply power affects the stability of all parts of the computer. Gaming computers consume a huge amount of energy, which in turn makes it impossible to use weak power supplies. For such computers need units with a capacity of 1000 watts. You should also pay attention to the presence of the fan in the unit, since without proper cooling, you can only achieve damage to the “insides” of the computer.
