2. Simple but popular. Nokia 1100 became the bestseller among mobile phones – and for a long time among all gadgets. From 2003 to 2007, 250 million devices were sold. The iPod overcame this barrier in 2010, and sales of five-generation iPhones amounted to 100 million copies.

6. Long way to go. Although Martin Cooper developed Motorola’s first mobile phone back in 1973, a full ten years passed before the $ 4000 DynaTAC went on sale. The reason is that first it was required to create an extensive and reliable mobile network.

7. Limited communication. The 160-character messaging technology concept was developed in 1984 by Friedhelm Hillebrand. He analyzed a variety of short texts, postcards and telegrams and found that in most cases such a number of characters is sufficient.

8. In the US, random calls to emergency numbers (pocket dialing, or “pocket calls”), depending on the state, make up from 25 to 70% of all calls to public services. This is due to pressing the shortcut buttons when people sit on the phone in their jeans pocket.

9. Severe rebirth. In the USA alone, over half a billion old mobile phones are expected to be processed. Their total weight is 250,000 tons, which corresponds to 25 Eiffel Towers.
